Barnacles dont mess around

Barnacles dont mess around and they don't wait. As soon as a boat enters the south Florida water, Barnacles have something to say about it. And that's "hey I think I'm going to hitch a ride with you!" and then he invites all his barnacle friends..
Before you know it,
you have all these freeloaders under your boat (not to mention on top of your boat too). And top or bottom, no one is chipping in for the extra gas they're causing you to spend.

heavy growth

We offer Underwater Hull Cleanings on nearly all boat sizes, from 15′ to 150′ + and we have rates to match the size of the boat. Not only that, but our rates per boat are also dynamic. For example, if you want your hull and run gear cleaned only once a month but your waterline done twice a month, we have a plan for that. Most other companies only offer flat rates and so you would have to pay the whole amount, even if you just wanted to keep your waterline nice and grass free.

Meet the usual suspects ...

Barnacles

Barnacles

Need no introduction. They are the most common and famous in the biofouling community. These will show up on your hull the fastest in south Florida. They will grow year round but favor the warmer Spring and Summer seasons. It's recorded that every year, there is more and more barnacles growing than the previous years. Some boat owners believe that they can "knock" the barnacles off their boat simply by running the boat. Even with paint made for this function (ablative paint), barnacles will grow everywhere! This means in areas where there will be low hydrostatic pressure while the boat is being operated and also where there is no paint and they can hold on the hardest.

Oysters

oysters

Oysters typical take a bit longer to develop on boat hulls. However they will show up soon enough. Especially if the hull has old or no paint. Favorite places for an oyster to grow on are the trim tabs, outboard motor mounts, inboard run gear and intakes. These are probably the most destructive of all the biofouling you can have. Oysters are not hard to stay ahead of with a regular service plan. However you do have to stay ahead of them because ground lost to these isn't easily taken back.

Tubeworms

Tubeworms

Tubeworms grow like gross, crunchy shag carpet across your hull. Typically they tend to favor growing in channels and canals with brackish water. Once you have a patch of tubeworms on your hull, the damage to your bottom paint has already been done. Even when the organism is removed, a faded footprint will remain behind from where the patch was. It is said that the tubeworms will grow back faster on this faded area and will then spread from there onto new areas. Containing this growth can be challenging as a result of this. The best strategy with this growth, like the other biofouling, is to stay ahead of the growth.

How often should I get a hull cleaning?

Well the answer to that is, "depends". Typically, a good rule of thumb is to get it done at least once a month. Bi-weekly is also a popular option, especially in the warmer spring and summer seasons. The best thing to do if you have any questions on this is to reach out to us so we can help you figure out what will work best for you. We proudly designed our rates to be dynamic to help customers save money while not skipping service.

Here are some other benefits of regular Hull Cleanings

Catch Damage

Stop small damage from turning into big damage (big bills)! The best way to do this is by getting regularly schedule hull cleanings. We are your eyes underwater. We communicate everything we noticed while under the water with a boat report with each cleaning. If we find critical or potentially critical damage, we record this with the boat report but also reach out directly. Communication is key. A Catalina smile is not the kind of smile that anyone wants, nor is it the only kind of damage one may find under a boat.
